We were very fortunate to visit the wonderful children at Ethelbert Child and Youth Care Centre for a party and an Easter Egg Hunt.
The project was run by the Robin Hood Foundation who have an absolute passion to help people who are less fortunate. Their projects extend from visiting newborn babies at a hospital right through to hosting a tea and cake event for the elderly. The reason we, at MJ Media, support this charity is that it is so well organised and also full of love and generosity. All the goods donated by companies and individuals go directly into the hands of the people in need and you can rest assured that if money is donated, it goes to a good cause.
This specific project took us all to the Ethelbert Child and Youth Care Centre in Queensburgh, Durban. It was a hot and sunny day which meant the children had to find the Easter Eggs very quickly before they melted. We didn’t need to worry because the Easter Egg hunt was over in about 10 minutes but then the real party could get started.
There was a constant queue at the face painting stand where “spiderman”, “batman” and “fairies” reappeared from.
Two jumping castles let the children burn off some of the sugar from eating lots of easter eggs and candy floss.
The DJ was especially popular amongst the “teens” and staff who showed us volunteers a thing or two on the dance floor!
Thank you to Ethelbert Child and Youth Care Centre for allowing us to come and spend a day with the children. For anyone interested in volunteering, there are many areas that you can get involved in. Visit their website for more information. http://www.ethelbert.co.za
